Mama Tet Cooks: Champorado

I am a sucker for anything chocolates. Blame it on my sweet tooth. So it isn't new that I also love Champorado or chocolate cooked rice as they call it. Some might find it weird because who eats chocolate in rice, right? But this is a common Filipino breakfast here since rice is our staple food.

Anyway, I have some tablea (I used to be a seller) so I used it on my champorado today. It is also raining outside so it's extra yummy because of the weather. Using tablea will make your champorado stickier and will give a stronger flavor than ordinary tsokolate.

INGREDIENTS

     6 tablets of tablea
     1/2 k. of sticky rice
     1 cup brown sugar
     4-5 cups of water
     milk (optional)

PROCEDURE

1. Boil water in a pot. Add sticky rice and wait for it to cook.
2. On a separate bowl, dissolve tablea in hot water.
3. When the rice is cooked, add the tablea. Keep on stirring so the rice will not stick to the pot.
4. Add sugar. Brown sugar is better but you can also use the white one.
5.  Serve white hot. You can drizzle some milk if you want. (optional)

That's it! While writing this, I left some tablea for this afternoon because looks like the rain ain't stopping anytime soon. That's also yummy for "bed-weather" weather like today.

Are you also a champorado lover like me? Leave a comment if yes!
Much Love, Mommy ❤

  1. The only way I made champorado is by mixing some milo or dark swiss miss into some rice that I would cook with a bit more water. So this is how you actually make awesome champorado. Do you partner it with tuyo or dilis? I personally like to partner it with some dilis cause there's no fishbones to handle :)
